Discover Rasnov

The city of Rasnov is located in the Transylvania region of Romania and is known for its magnificent castle that sits on a hill overlooking the city. The fortress (Rasnov Citadel) is the landmark of the city that you should visit. It is located on a hill that you can either reach on foot or by a rack railroad that goes up from the old town center. There is also a parking lot at the bottom of the hill from which transportation vehicles go up. Halfway up from the parking lot to the castle is also the popular Dino Parc, which features life-size dinosaurs. The fortress itself also has a few souvenir stores as well as a cafe. The view from the castle is magnificent. But the reverse view from Strada Republici up to the fortress, below which the name of the city has been mounted in large letters on the hill like in Hollywood, is beautiful. From the parking lot on Strada Cetatea, you can get to the cave (Peștera Valea Cetății), to which a hiking trail leads from the road. The cave is worth seeing. However, it can be visited only during a tour, which is informative. Back in the center of Rasnov you can also see the beautiful historical church and have a meal in one of the restaurants.

Rasnov

The town of Rasnov is also known as a ski jumping venue. At the place Baza Olimpica Rasnov are several ski jumps. Rasnov is also a good starting point for exploring the surrounding area. For example, the Rasnovava Canyon (Cheile Rasnoavei)is a place of impressive beauty and about 8 kilometers away. Also popular is the Canyon of the Seven Ladders (Canionul 7 Scari), which is about 35 kilometers away. You can get pure nature in the national parks Parcul Naţional Piatra Craiului and Parcul Natural Bucegi. A very special place is also the Bear Sanctuary (Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti) in Zarnesti, which is only 12 kilometers away. And you should not miss the famous Dracula Castle (Castelul Bran). It is about 10 kilometers away. In winter you can go skiing and snowboarding in the nearby mountains. There are several ski resorts near Rasnov, including Poiana Brasov and Predeal. And since the city of Brasov is also very beautiful, this city could be your next destination.
