Discover Zarnesti

The small town of Zarnesti is located in the Transylvania region of Romania and is a popular place for tourists who especially want to experience the beauties of nature in this region. Zarnesti itself is a well-kept small town with some buildings worth seeing. Among them are the Church of St. Nicholas (Biserica Sf. Nicolae), the House of Culture (Casă de cultură) and the Courthouse (Judecătoria). However, Zarnesti is above all the gateway to the Piatra Craiului National Park, which will delight you. Zarnesti is also known worldwide for the Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti, located about 10 kilometers from the city, where brown bears find a new home, which were previously held captive somewhere. The most famous sight in Zărnești is, as already mentioned, the Piatra Craiului National Park. You can already reach this on foot from the village square or from the train station, from which I started several times. I recommend, however, to start hiking from the spring (Fântâna lui Botorog). From there a hiking trail starts and you can easily reach the Zarnesti Gorge (Prăpăstiile Zărneștiului) or other hiking trails. The visit to the park is, by the way, subject to a fee. Come to Zarnesti, which is not far from the city of Brasov. . Here you can go hiking and enjoy the nature.

The small town of Zarnesti is a good starting point for hikes in the Piatra Craiului National Park (Parcul Piatra Craiului). From Zarnesti you can also reach many other sights and attractions of the region. For example, the famous Bran Castle (Castelul Bran) is only 10 kilometers away. About 14 kilometers away is the medieval castle (Cetatea Râșnov) on a hill, at the foot of which is the popular Dinopark. I would also like to mention the monastery (Mănăstirea Rupestra Șinca Veche), which is about 30 kilometers away.
