Discover Focsani

The city of Focsani is located in Romania in the historical region of Moldova and is a city worth seeing. In Focșani there are many buildings worth seeing among which, as in all of Romania, there are numerous churches and monasteries. Among others, the Church of the Assumption (Adormirii Maicii Domnului), the Church of St. John the Baptist ( Biserica Sfântul Ioan Botezătorul) and the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena (Biserica Sfinții Împărați Constantin și Elena ) are impressive. You can find several sights at the square (Piata Unrii). There you will find, among others, the Athenaeum (Ateneul Popular Maior Gheorghe Pastia), the Monument of the Union (Monumentul Unirii) as well as the House of Culture (Casa de Cultură) and the Public Park (Grădina Publică Focșani). Not far from this beautiful square on Strada Cuza Voda is the Statue of Independence (Statuia Independenței). And also the Mausoleum (Mausoleul Eroilor) can be easily reached on foot in 20 minutes via Bulevardul Unirii. You should also visit one of the city’s museums, including the Museum of Natural Sciences (Muzeul de Științe ale Naturii), the Museum of the Union (Muzeul Unirii) or the National Museum (Monumentul istoric Casa Tatovici).

Besides its numerous sights, the city of Focsani also offers a variety of leisure opportunities. For example, a visit to the theater (Teatrul Municipal Maior Gheorghe Pastia), located in a magnificent building. The recreational area of Crângul Petrești invites you to walk and linger, and the city’s parks are a good place to take a break. There are several parks at once, including the Park (Grădina Publică Focșani ), the Park (Parc Mausoleul Eroilor ) or the Park (Parcul Nicolae Bălcescu). If you want to shop, you will find both traditional stores and a popular shopping mall. In the Focsani Mall, in addition to numerous stores, there is also a food court and a modern cinema. And like everywhere in Romania, you should stop at one of the restaurants in Focsani to try a traditional Romanian dish.

Focsani is not only a city worth seeing, but also a good starting point to explore the surrounding area. For example, a very special place is located 20 kilometers outside the city, the Zaga Zaga Resort is located on the river Siret. There, for example, you can experience boat trips on the canals that lead through forests and swamps. A unique natural experience is offered by the Focul Viu nature reserve, where you can see live fire or flames that they self-ignite. About 60 kilometers from Focsani is the waterfall (Cascada Putnei) in the nature park (Parcul Natural Putna Vrancea). The nearest major city is Galati. Focşani is also a center of viticulture, tasting the Romanian wine is recommended.
