The city of Tulcea is located in the northeast of Romania at the mouth delta of the Danube and not directly on the Black Sea, it is on the one hand the gateway to the Danube Delta and on the other hand a city with some attractions. However, most tourists come to explore the Danube Delta from Tulcea. The pier in Tulcea is located directly on the Danube promenade. From here you can make tours from Tulcea to Crisan or Sulina, day trips, photo safaris and fishing trips.

Tulcea

Welcome to Tulcea

Tulcea itself is also worth seeing. Among other things, you should take a walk along the waterfront. Also worth seeing is the former fortress Cetatea Aegyssus on the Strada Fraților. You should also plan a visit to the Danube Delta Eco-Tourism Museum Center (https://www.icemtl.ro). Time is usually short, but you should always plan some time for spontaneous stops, because almost like everywhere in Romania, you will find special features in Tulcea that are not in any travel guide and invite you to stay, even if it is sometimes only a small street cafe.
