Gradistea Muncelului Nature Park (Parcul Natural Gradistea Muncelului – Cioclovina) is located in Hunedoara County, in the west of Romania, and is one of the numerous nature reserves in this nature-rich country. The nature park covers almost 40,000 hectares with forests and pastures, hayfields, farmlands, and rivers, as well as caves and rare plants. From the villages: Costesti, Magureni, Bosorod, Pui, Ponor, Baru and Crivadia, for example, you can get to the hiking trails, which should not be left. It is forbidden and besides it can be dangerous. Within the nature park there is also the historical site Sarmisegetusa Regia.

  • Route: Valea Streiului – Vf. Lola – Vf. Bulzu – Vf. Porumbelu Mare (The trail begins in the commune of Baru, at the crossroads of the Strei Valley )

  • Route : Podul Gerosu – Dealul Muncelului – Cetatea Feţele Albe – Valea Alba (The trail begins in Vl.Gradistei, at the junction of Gerosului Valley with Gradistei Valley (Gerosu Bridge))

  • Route : Aurul verde din Parcul Natural Gradistea Muncelului Cioclovina” – the path begins in the Cioclovina valley

  • Route: „Biodiversitatea Munţilor Şureanu” – the trail starts at the confluence of the Rea Valley with the Grădiște Valley and leads through the Rea Valley to the Vârtoapelor Plateau (passing the Rea Valley Waterfall and the Sfinții Români Hermitage).
