The city of Slatina is located in the southwest of Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia, on the Olt River. Today, Slatina is a modern city with numerous cultural attractions as well as recreational opportunities. Among the most important sights are the Old Town (Centrul Vechi), located between the streets Strada Ionașcu, Strada George Poboran, Strada Mihai Eminescu, Strada Dinu Lipatti, Strada Grădiniței, Strada Mihail Kogălniceanu, Strada Ioan Moroșan and Strada Ionașcu. Here you can also find Casa Căsătoriilor and the administration building (Primăria Slatina). From the hill (Dealul Grădişte din Slatina), which is also located here, you have a beautiful view of the city. About an hour’s drive from Slatina is the National Park Cozia, where you can hike, fish or even watch animals. Almost on the doorstep is the river Olt, where you can also fish or enjoy a walk along its banks. About 120 kilometers away is one of the most beautiful mountain passes in Europe, the Transfăgărășan.
