Lake Lacul Bucura is located in the Retezat National Park at an altitude of over 2000 meters and is the largest glacial lake in Romania that you should have seen. The lake is easily accessible by hiking trails. From here you can also reach the highest peak of the national park Varful Peleaga with 2509 meters. The way up requires some effort, of course, but the unique landscape and the beauty of the lake, as well as the fresh air will compensate you. However, the area is very popular with tourists and since camping is allowed at the lake, some take advantage of it.

Bucura Lake (Lacul Bucura)

welcome to Bucura Lake

There is also a legend about this lake, allegedly thieves have hidden their loot in the lake in the past, but the real treasure is and remains the beauty of nature.

The starting point for the hiking trails to the glacial lake is, for example, the village of Poiana Pelegii, which you can easily reach by car from Hateq.
