Calimani National Park (Parcul Național Călimani) is located in the north-east of Romania and is a nature reserve you should see. You can explore the beautiful nature on numerous hiking trails. The nature park is part of the Eastern Carpathians and is located about 160 kilometres from the cities of Suceava, Targu Mures or Cluj-Napoca. There are smaller nature reserves within the national park. Furthermore, there are many hiking trails that lead you through forests, mountains and valleys. The highest point in the Calimani National Park is Pietrosul Calimani, which is over 2000 metres high and offers a beautiful view. You should also see the mountain lake Iezer (Lacul Iezer din Călimani) and the rock formations 12 Apostles (Rezervația naturală 12 Apostoli). The sulphur mining area (Exploatarea de sulph Gura Haitii) was not created by nature. For information on hiking trails, visit the nature park’s website. Also take care of your equipment.
